Welcome to the Elm Valley Joint Fire District, a dedicated rural Ohio Fire Department proudly serving the Village of Ashley, Oxford Township in Delaware County, Peru Township, and Westfield Township in Morrow County. Committed to our time-honored role of saving lives and protecting property, we strive to recruit, train, and retain highly skilled individuals who are devoted to serving and protecting our community.
Our mission is to protect the quality of life for residents, employees, and visitors by providing the highest quality All-Hazard Emergency Service Management. This includes fire suppression, search and rescue services, emergency medical support, and mitigation of special hazards threatening public safety.
Established on January 1st, 1883, as a village fire department, we have evolved over 140 years, expanding to include surrounding townships. Covering an extensive area of approximately 74 square miles, our rural Fire District encompasses a farming community, Delaware Lake, and a State wildlife area. Bounded by Delaware Lake to the West and US Interstate 71 to the East, our Fire Station strategically sits just North of the intersection of State route 229 and US Highway 42.
Our dedicated men and women respond to 375-400 calls annually, with part-time crews on duty 24 hours a day, and supplemented by our volunteer on-call staff ensures a continuous response to emergencies. Our administrtation Office hours are Monday thru Friday 0800 - 1700.
Located at 9821 US Highway 42, Ashley, Ohio 43003, our Fire Station houses a fleet of apparatus, including 2 Engines, 1 Tanker, 1 Mini-pumper, 1 Grass truck, 1 Utility Truck, 1 powered Boat, 1 non-powered RIT-Craft Rescue boat, and 1 Hazmat Containment trailer. Operated by our dedicated 25 part-time and volunteer staff, we are well-equipped to handle a variety of emergency situations.
The Elm Valley Joint Fire District is not only committed to emergency services but also takes pride in recreational facilities within the district, such as Recreation Unlimited, Heartland Conference Retreat Center, Cardinal Shooting Center, and Campground.
