The Elm Valley Joint Fire District will be conducting annual hydrant flushing in October. This will be during the hours of 9 a.m. to roughly 4 p.m. Please see below for the dates and Townships we will be in. There will be two days scheduled for each township in case emergency calls we have to attend too. We will also be putting out the yard signs in the areas before we start flushing. If for unforeseen water restrictions we will reschedule.

Oct. 30rd- 31st Hydrants North of St. Rt. 229 & East of St. Rt. 42
Nov. 3rd - 4th Hydrants south of 229 and east of 42.
Nov. 5th - 6th Hydrants West of St. Rt. 42

Why we flush and test hydrants:
Flushing is an operational check to ensure that the hydrant opens and closes correctly and is free of mechanical problems, which helps prevent delays during a fire.
By performing flow tests, firefighters can confirm the amount of water pressure and volume available in the area. This data is essential for determining firefighting strategies and assessing the capabilities of the water system.
Regular hydrant maintenance is considered by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) when determining a community's Public Protection Classification (PPC). A community's PPC rating influences fire insurance rates for residents and businesses.
